AUTUMN - THE GENTLE RETREAT

A gentle retreat with a promise to return, in autumn we go slowly, observing the wonder that is Mother Nature as the season turns….

Not quite to bed, but a gentle retreat inside,

warm evenings unfold over cascading landscapes.

Trees full of life, with leaves in hues of golds and yellows and reds,

can-can as the sun sets.

Birds chirping a new song, beckoning a gentle morning.

Where winter is a reckoning,

and spring a delight,

summer runs wild outside,

but autumn leaves us charmed.

A season for Mother Nature to tend to herself,

to prepare the earth for a rebirth,

through a bare winter for an abundant spring,

a delightful summer and a tender autumn.

Autumn and spring, twin flames in a dalliance like star crossed lovers,

never the twain shall meet, but compliment each other.

Ox tail stews and cotton trench coats

woollen socks and pumpkin spice, laced with a little something nice.

In autumn we lean in a little closer

warm hearts guiding each other.

To a charming autumn, a season of Sundays,

when we are often better together.
