The Jeronimo monastery in Belem is as solemn as it is beautiful. Ornate carvings and arched walkways. It is also one of the traditional holders of the original recipes of the national dessert, Pasties de nata. Down the road from the monastery is the pasties de belem cafe where you can buy these dessert. So there is plenty to love about Belem.
